Halloween

We had a great time and the kids got a TON of candy (which we are still graving off of). SportyB wanted to be something scary and BusyB.. well she was Busy Bee of course. One of my BFFs made her costume as her daughter was a bee as well (Miss Bee to be exact) and then we had our Indian too. We go to our friends neighborhood every year and enjoy their witches brew, cookies and stew. Here are a few pictures from our evening.

Yikes still on October

We all had fun picking out our pumpkin, although BusyB was a little cranky that day as she had been working hard on some teeth. But we managed through it and enjoyed some time goofing around. Here are a few pictures.

The kids with their pumpkin selection

We managed a smile, but she was playing games with the camera

Boys playing games on the hay maze

Monkey in the tree

The kids in the pumpkin carriage

The boys take the job of carving the pumpkin and still to this day SportyB doesn't like the gooey inside.. Here are a few pictures while we carved the pumpkin.

He still doesn't like this part, but was a trooper in trying

Keeping herself entertained

1st Parent Teacher Conference

October 19th was our first parent teacher conference and it went G.R.E.A.T - although SportyB and a little bit of a ruff start (even managed a few yellow and red days! Yikes) he has been nothing but Super Star Nose and greens the rest of the way. She had great things to say how well he is doing.

One project he had to draw a picture on one side and on the other side write why he liked Halloween (in his own words as he thought they were spelled). He wrote:

On hwn i lk dcrdg jackulrs aed par guos

This is called transitional - he is writing words the way they sound. For his age she said this was really good as he is hearing/understanding a lot of sounds in each word. Can you make out what he was saying above? It reads: On Halloween I like decorating Jack o lanterns and paper ghosts.

His school uses the Florida Assessments for Instruction in Reading to measure their progress he did great in this testing. He wants to read SOO bad and he is doing great with practicing and trying. He does tend to be hard on himself but he currently has the drive. We are proud of how well he is doing and he continues to be a great big brother.

We have also been working on riding his bike with no training wheels. Here is a video of our first days work.

September winds to an end

SportyB is playing soccer again this year and has been asking for a pair of soccer shoes (the smallest kid size soccer shoe we were able to find is a 10 and last year his feet weren't big enough). KingB told him he would take him for a pair before his first practise and he held to his promise. SportyB was so excited he even wore them to bed.

We have been wanting to try things ourselves so this night it was dinner

isn't this the look of being busted but the I didn't do it gaze - I think she was taking notes from Grammie and attempting a yogurt facial

or maybe it's an upper body facial - her sign for finished

SportyB wanted to share his new trick that he has been working on - enjoy

1st Football game of the season

Well considering college football season is nearly over, I guess I should post the pictures from the first game..

There was a fly over before kick off - and of course we were still at the tailgate, but that's ok as I still got pictures

Hi there

So I realized the other day that I haven't posted since the end of August - whoops and thought that it might be time to TRY and catch up.

Labor Day weekend KingB went out of town for the annual John McLane golf tournament in Gainesville. While he was gone, the kids and I were invited out on the boat with one of my BFFs and her family, The Campbell's. The boat captain decided to take us to Dog Island as it's easier since it's a beach with the little ones. So I packed everything but the kitchen sink and we headed down. We missed daddy that day but we had a blast making sand castles, finding sea shells, and jumping off the boat. Here are a few pictures from our day.

Lunch time

1st round of sand castles

2nd round of sand castles

kids having fun jumping off side of boat

Suppose to be napping but playing peek-a-boo instead and of course I couldn't resist

Show and tell - of course we don't leave home without it

and finally for about 20 minutes she slept

Thank you Campbells!! :)

SportyB's First day....

SportyB's first day of k-garten started with pancakes made by him and his dad - they had fun working together in the kitchen.

He was very excited to be on our way

We even had time to get a picture with our teacher

He did great!! And was excited about going back the next day. He even got on the Blue/Super Star Nose today!! (Every student starts out each day on the Green/Good level. If a child has followed class rules without reminders and shows exemplar behavior they will be moved up to the Super Star Nose and receive a sticker and note at the end of the day). Great Job SportyB.

July

Hard to believe it's been over a month since my last post - it's hard to believe a month has already past. So much has gone on, I don't even know if I can remember it all.. BabyB (who will be referred to as BusyB from here on out) has been on the move! We are still only crawling but FINALLY crawling on all fours. She found that she is much faster slithering around like a snake as SportyB puts it so she prefers that route. However, she pulls up on everything and is taking steps if holding onto something. She only has her front 4 teeth and is working on growing some hair, it's hard work being a girly girl with little hair to work with. She chatters up a storm and LOVES her brother.

Here are a few video's/pictures of her.

We are very much a self feeder and somehow she
managed to have part of dinner on her shoulder

Very excited - can you tell?

We had a barricade to keep BusyB in the living room - but someone discovered how to get out

SportyB's summer is coming to an end. He has had play dates with buddies, work days with dad, golf trips with dad and fun days with Mimi since his last day at VPK was July 31st. We had kindergarten orientation today and we really like his teacher, Mrs. Perritt. His first day is Monday the 24th.. wish us luck and stay tuned to hear how it all went. Here are a few pictures of him.
Very excited about his new golf clubs from his daddy

First time roller skating - that's him in the middle of the picture

Here he is with his buddies having fun

4th of July Family photo

QueenB got a job (maybe a part of why I've been so busy).. Remember that job I was really excited about but had to take that horrible test? Well that's the one, I've been there over 5 weeks and I'm really enjoying it. The people there are REALLY great, it's been a LOT of information in training but I feel my notes are pretty good and getting me through everything. KingB has been keeping himself busy with work, never ending projects and Honey-do-list, and let's not forget about golf although he would probably say there hasn't been enough golf in his life these days. He has enjoyed taking SportyB out and teaching him the rules of the golf game. We took a trip to Sarasota for what was SUPPOSE to be my birthday present trip. A group of friends went with us and we were SUPPOSE to go to a concert in Tampa to see Coldplay................ B.U.T (crying eyes) they had to postpone due to a medical reasons - Cry CRY C.R.YYYY - So sad.. but we had a blast anyway, got to enjoy KingB's family and hopefully, we will be able to make the reschedule date whenever that will be as it hasn't been posted yet. Who knows maybe it will end up being my 2010 birthday present!!

Well this was my cliff note version to just be caught up.. I've probably missed many fun stuff and sorry if I did. Check out our webshots photos as I've updated July

STL City Museum

Our last day at my sister's house the boys had a golf trip planned so we headed to STL City Museum and O.M.G is this place the coolest. We attempted to find every nook and cranny in here - they are EVERYWHERE.... No map - just explore! Stories, slides, tunnels, scooting places, crawling places, squeezing places, running places, DARK places - this place has it all and so full of adventure. People were wearing knee pads and dusty covered bums everywhere. Yes, there were some things I choose not to venture and wished KingB was there but SportyB would take my hand and say 'don't be scared mom, I'll protect you' during some of our adventures.. Here are the pictures from that day
This is the first floor - that is SportyB standing in front of that huge whale. If you go into the mouth of the whale it takes you to all kinds of tunnels. People would be coming out from all over the place, you would see grandparents coming out from UNDER the whale to try and get out from where they were. Where I'm standing to take this picture, there is this slide that takes you underneath the ground back behind this whale - that would be one that I didn't do but it didn't stop SportyB. He was guiding 6ft tall men to where this slide came out on the other side so they would know where they would end up before they would go down it!

Another view of the first floor.

You see the tunnels up in the ceiling of this floor? They could wind around the entire ceiling in these little tunnels. Another one I opted not to attempt

Ok this one, I can't believe I did, yes I know I'm a chicken, but it's a 7 story slide. You see on the right hand side WAY up at the top of this picture by the window? That is the beginning of this slide.. it's SO fast! and you go around and around and around and around and around and around and around (yes that was 7 times). Heading up to the top we almost turned around thinking we were going the wrong direction but we were determined to find where we would end up.

Yes, they even had a floor of museum stuff (hence the name) that we walked around. Pretty interesting stuff in there

The kiddos being cute

The end of the day - BabyB doesn't seem to be happy. Boy was she ever ready to go at closing time, she was honestly sleeping before we made it around the block - no joke!

Of course we had to monkey around

Hanging out while SportyB was climbing around in the ball pit

Yes they even had a train - only those UNDER 54" aloud to ride

3 story triangle slide

Climbing over through the tree branch to the other side of the room

More Monkey's - everyone had to participate. I think SportyB is even making a monkey face

They had this room that would be a skateboarders dream, ramps and slide (of course with hidden dark tunnels) galore. Here is a video of SportyB enjoying one of the ramps

After we left we went to Show-me's for dinner (a favorite of Matt and Jenn) and caught up with the boys. Then the boys continued their 'bonding time' at one of Matt's volleyball tournaments. We had a blast and I can't wait to head back. We had to make our 12hr trip home the next day but I think the kids slept 80% of the way home - busy vacation!
